DJI is one of the most premium names in the world of drones and the Phantom is their most prized possession. Last year they introduced us to the Phantom 4 drone and now they have upgraded it and launched the new Phantom 4 Pro. Some improvements have been made to the previous Phantom 4 to bring us this new instalment. Let’s talk about the significant features of this device.
First of all speed. The Phantom 4 Pro has 31 miles per hour speed with obstacle avoidance. Now the previous model also had obstacle avoidance. But if you wanted max speed, you had to put the drone in Sport Mode. That disabled obstacle avoidance. But now it’s active even in full speed. Also the Pro has rear sensors. So obstacle avoidance while backing up too.
One very interesting features in the Phantom 4 Pro is the new return to home feature. This feature retraces the original path of the drone or it almost does and then it traces back to you. This is needed in case your drone goes too far away and you lose connection with the remote. Safe to say DJI has done everything to make this thing crash proof. With all that speed you get around 30 minutes of flight time.
The camera on the new Phantom 4 Pro has been upgraded. Now we have a new camera with 20 megapixel camera with a 1 inch sensor. It can record 4K videos at 60 fps and at up to 100Mbps bitrate. You can take a more advanced remote instead of pairing with your smartphone if you want to up your drone control game. The remote comes with a 5.5 inch touch screen display.
The Phantom 4 Pro is now up for preorder and has a price tag of $1,500. If you want the remote with the touch screen display you will have to pay $1,800 for the drone and the remote. And $300 is too much for a remote without a doubt but that is one good looking drone. DJI says that they will start shipping the orders next week. No news on when they will hit the market.
